She worked for 25 years in public mental health seeing children and adults with a full range of problems. She is a specialist in treating trauma-based disorders and skilled in treating depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders. She opened this practice in 2007.

Mary E. Goodwin, Psy.D. earned her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She has worked with Vance Mental Health Services since 2012 and provides therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families. Mary believes that people have the capacity for growth and change that can promote health and wellness in their lives and in the lives of others in their community. She is committed to working collaboratively to help people discover and achieve their greatest potential. Mary practices therapy from an integrative approach, which incorporates principles from holistic therapy, person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, family systems therapy, and somatic therapy.
Mary possesses a broad public service background in government and education and has worked with diverse groups of people. She has extensive experience working within the faith community and has spearheaded projects geared toward minimizing suffering and preserving human life and dignity in the local, national, and international communities.

She has a special interest in helping people who feel like "outsiders" whether by age, history, family issues, or culture, including refugee experiences and trauma associated with moving to a new country. Psychology was a late career change. Dr had previously worked in refugee resettlement, and, for more than 20 years practiced immigration law. She has published in that field and, for several years, taught Immigration Law as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown School of Law and was published in the principal treatise in the field. She is fluent in Spanish, conversant in French and Italian and adequate in Portuguese.

Emily Gotsch is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who has been working with individuals, couples, and families through tele-health appointments since 2020. She earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology with a certificate in Child Advocacy from the Florida Institute of Technology and went on to earn her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. Emily has experience working with children, teens, and adults who may be experiencing anxiety, panic, PTSD, depression, grief, addiction, relational conflicts, anger control problems, ADHD, issues with intimacy, impulse control, medical illness, suicidal ideation, bipolar disorder, psychotic symptoms, chronic pain, and more. Emily creates an individualized treatment plan for each client using clinical, research supported therapies, such as Mindfulness Based and Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to truly get to the root of the issue and to make a plan for future, positive change. Although it might feel strange to talk to a stranger over a video call, Emily strives to make each client feel heard, understood, and supported as they work towards their personalized goals for therapy.
